How to Work with Me
I personally tailor my editorial services to what each manuscript and author needs and wants. If you are interested in working with me, please e-mail me and tell me a bit about your project and what you are looking to get out of working with me. Then, we’ll schedule a complimentary 30-minute Zoom meeting or phone call to discuss how we might work together in more detail. I’ll also ask to see a sample of writing from your manuscript, which allows me to evaluate what the manuscript needs and how much the work will cost.
I can help you determine what type of editing would be best for your manuscript if you are not sure. My services include manuscript evaluations, full developmental edits, and line edits. I also provide coaching (via phone or Zoom) during the writing and revision process and offer editing and coaching for manuscript query letters and synopses.
I charge a flat price per book-length project and an hourly fee for consultations, coaching, and smaller pieces of writing. Project prices are based on the word count of the manuscript and the level of feedback you’d like.
I’ll provide a contract that specifies the scope of work I will do, the price, and the time frame for the project’s completion. I’ll also provide a confidentiality agreement, so that you know your work is protected.
I work using Track Changes in Microsoft Word, which displays all in-line edits and comments in easy-to-read format. For developmental edits, I provide a separate document with detailed written comments about your manuscript, including recommendations for rewriting and restructuring.
I communicate with clients via e-mail and phone. I’m always happy to answer any questions you have about the edits I’ve suggested.
I take payment in the form of personal checks or via direct bank transfer using Zelle.
